Cameron Sawzin

Boston, Massachusetts
I'm a busy professional free-lance cellist, based in Boston. I studied with Richard Kapuscinsky at Oberlin Conservatory (BM Cello performance) and Lawrence Lesser New England Conservatory (MM cello performance) . I also attended Juilliard pre college as a High School student of Channing Robbins. I was fortunate to have some instruction from Leonard Rose as well when he wasn't busy touring!. My newest recording with Nu Jazz guitarist Jeff Cashen is entitled "A Bunch of Guitars and a cello" and I enjoy performing in many different musical styles. I love living in my Fort Point Channel neighborhood and am active in this very wonderful community, filled with talent and personalities. Boston engagements range from range from Masterworks Chorale performances to Broadway shows “The Producers, Sweet Charity”, "The Putnam County Selling Bee" and a Boston Lyric Opera production of “”Marriage of Figaro” . I have performed as a soloist in the New Directions Cello Festival and served on the steering committee of that wonderful organization. I've also enjoyed participating in the New Hampshire Music Festival and other Summer Festivals. I love teaching, have private studios in Andover, Lexington and New Hampshire and have been guest faculty at the University of New Hampshire. Extensive study of Pilate and other modalities has helped my students to create a natural, fluid cello technique and been an invaluable aid to mine as well. My solo cello work has been heard on the PBS show “Nova”, among others and I'm looking forward to the upcoming release this month of a collaborative CD with guitarist Jeff Cashen entitled "A bunch of guitars and a cello". Just run me through google for a long list of other recordings. I live in a remarkable evolving district in Boston's Fort Point Channel and have enjoyed connecting with the talented residents of this fast evolving arts district, which is an interesting mix of artists and new non- artist arrivals. As executive director of the Boston Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, I am designing a multi-media concert series with Music Director Paul Dulude. We are exited about the increasing interest and support from the community and stake-holders in the district.
